The COVID-19 pandemic has many customers concerned about the safety of their loved ones, particularly in regards to limiting exposure to harmful virus and germs we bring into our home from outdoors. So, today we’ll respond to a question we’ve been getting quite a lot here at Pravada: How do we sanitize our floors?
Here are the recommendations from our flooring experts:
First, find out what your floors’ finish is. Are your floors finished in UV Lacquer, UV Oil or Hardwax? If you’ve got one of our floors, this info is available on our website > head over to your product’s page to verify.
You might be asking yourself: Why does that matter? The reason you want to know your finish type is because there are different cleaning products for different finishes. The key point to understand is that wood is a porous material, and will allow moisture to soak into the surface of the floor. Thus, however you go about it, let’s agree to NEVER use soaked, dripping mops or let water sit on your floors, shall we? Ok, great! ;)
SANITIZING YOUR FLOORS
For UV Lacquer finished wood floors, we recommend products like diluted Lysol® All-Purpose Cleaner and Pine-Sol® Multi-Surface Cleaner. Prior to cleaning, sweep or vacuum your floors with a hard floor attachment to remove loose dirt. Then simply spray your floors with the diluted version of these products, using a floor mop to clean it up right after. Follow the product manufacturer’s instructions for specific directions.
Now, if you have got UV Oil finished wood floors we recommend sticking to a regular care & maintenance routine as instructed in our guidelines. By regularly cleaning your floors, you can ensure a neutral, germ-free home environment for you and your family. Products we suggest for cleaning your oiled floors: Bona Cleaner for Oiled Floors and WOCA Natural Soap. Tip: Use a cotton mop for best results.
Got laminates installed at home? Check out Bona PowerPlus® Antibacterial Hard-Surface Floor Cleaner. We also suggest this product for waterproof SPC and WPC floors.
When in doubt, follow our Care & Maintenance instructions and stick to a regular cleaning routine for a hygienic and disinfected home.
